Anyone had a hatchling do this?

Checked on my babies tonight, and second baby is coming out of its egg. But noticed that the first baby to come out this morning was sticking the tip of its tongue out and just leaving it there. It would move and touch the paper towels and the egg it was sitting on. But the tongue stayed sticking out, at first I thought it was a piece of goo from one of the eggs, but I picked it up and looked and its wasn't. Anyone else had a baby do that? Kinda worries me, but I worry about everything. Any thoughts would be great, I didn't notice it doing that any of the other times I checked in on it, so wanted to ask people with more experience. You can see it in the pic, it was just the tip.

At first I thought egg tooth but it's much too large in my experience. No idea.

Its the tongue. It put it on the wet paper towel and it went into the fork. Just is weird. Hoping someone has experience with it and everything is fine, lol.

if they flicker their tongue properly, BPs have a directional sense of smell, they can smell if a scent comes from the left or the right, humans do not have that skill.

but it requires the usual tongue flickering snakes do. if the tongue does not split but is glued together, the ends not seperating, thats already a bad sign.

It was flickering just fine earlier today. So it just did this tonight. Probably nothing, but an overly worried mother here, lol.

Ive had hatchlings do that before. The tongue just hung there, and "quivered". But within 24 hours it was normal. I think its just something that happens sometimes with newborns.

It's just fine sometimes their tongues seem like they get stuck out but it will pull it back it when it's ready to

I wouldn't worry. Once he's out rinse him off. It's probably nothing.

I've never hatched BP's so I can't offer any advice on that, but I hope all is okay which some other people have said it's happened before and the issue was corrected, so hopefully that works itself out.
