Bothrops asper
Finally got two of my favourite snakes, Bothrops asper - tercipelo.
These guys have quite an attitude...from the female alone, I had about 70+ strikes in a few minutes as I tried to get a picture :) got to love cranky snakes.
They're only little at the moment, 7 inches or so.

Re: Bothrops asper
Very nice. The lance heads are all awesome!! My buddy has some that I've had a chance to work with and I can't believe how fast they are. Even as babies they are a handful.

Ty for sharing.

Very nice, and I wish I wanted to fully deal with venomous, those are one species I'd love to have. Maybe someday.

Thanks, the male is still to 'clean up' a bit, i assume he's had one less shed than the female.
Lanceheads, Rattlers and Bushmasters are my favourites. Oh yeah, they're very quick indeed, definitely the fastest vipers around and probably just as fast as most elapids.

Thanks! Yeah, they're an amazing species! Not one for the fainthearted though, they do not back down:P

Re: Bothrops asper
Just give 'em a big 'ole kiss. They'll settle down ;)

The not backing down is the reason I'd get bit. I don't care about being bit by a snake, though with venomous this would present a major problem. As a kid I used to catch copperheads and cottonmouths to sell to a friend who ran a pet store. I also found it much easier to catch them bare hands which I wouldn't do now because I think logical, but as a kid I did it. I was only bitten once and it was by a copperhead and it was due to another Copperhead about two feet from where the one I was planning to catch was at. So when I went down to catch it the other one popped out from by the brushes and tagged me above my elbow.
