    My little baby girls...
My first foray into extraordinary genetics... I went to an expo wanting a mystic (phantom?), but there was none to be found - and this was kind of love at first sight - I wasn't even trying to go there...

BTW, the lighter one seems to have something called microphthalmia (small eyes)... She was given to me for free after purchasing her sister, and after a discussion with the breeder, agreed that she will forever be taken care of as a special pet, and not used as a breeder. Interestingly, I had several vet friends that looked at her at the show, and after some quick and dirty tests, it seems that her eyes are light sensitive and functioning normally. So far, she is the most outgoing, curious, and social of the two snakes. Go figure.

Those are gorgeous snakes! Did they think that the small eyes would be detrimental to the snake or to any future breeds?

It was more of an unknown than anything definite. Microphthalmia in other animals is sometimes associated with other birth defects, but sometimes not. None of the vets at the show had ever seen micropthalmia in snakes before - and these were all exotic animal MDs.

So far, she is acting like a perfectly normal little baby ball python. She just has little itty-bitty eyes.

Beautiful! Eye size seems to be something easily affected on these snakes.
