Planning on getting a new tank?
Caesar my 2 month old BP is getting big quick and i plan on getting him a new tank by christmas, hes currently in a 10 gallon tank doing fine. But i want 1 that he can stay in his whole life, with out buying 1 here and than another and so on. I dont need 10 tanks just from 1 snake. I was thinking about the exo terra 40 gallon wide because it is a nice looking tank, but would that be to big and stress him out? I just dont want to buy more than 1 tank. I dont like the racks because i like having a display tank and try to make it look as good as possible! Let me know what you guys think :)
Re: Planning on getting a new tank?

If you really want a tank then get a 20. 40 would be too big and could cause some issues even if its cluttered. Plus, clutter makes cleaning harder and improper cleaning leads to a sick/unhealthy animal. You can find them pretty cheap. You can use aquarium backgrounds. I did when I first started. When the 20 starts to get small u can try a 40, but by then i bet you'll have more and will be looking into racks
Racks are harder to heat than glass tanks. Tub are much better at holding humidity in though.
Re: Planning on getting a new tank?
if i could have more balls i would get more balls my dad watns me to save money to get my car fxed and would be super pissed if i bought another, i do agree there are pros and cons of racks vs tanks. some good somebad, but me personaly i enjoy the view and like being creative with my tanks to get a good feeling with my creative side haha. My buddy actually told me he'll give me his 20 gallon because his ball out grew it. but i might consider getting another ball maybe in november at the next closest reptile show to me. but only time will tell. and for humidity with a tank i just throw a damn paper towel on top to keep in some extra humidity and spray it down every night and morning cause my infared heat light really zaps the humidity but i like him to be able to bask as well as get belly heat from his uth. but thats just my personal opinion :)

I've had my 1600g ball in a 40br for the last 2 years and he seems to like it just fine. I got him when he was about 700g-100g. When he was smaller, there were a couple plants and a branch in there which he liked to climb up and hide under. Since then I've taken them out and working on changing things up for him a little. Humidity for me isn't a big hassle(thankfully) as my apartment stays in the 45-50% range so I spritz the tank once in a while to give it a boost.
Petco is currently having their $1/gallon sale until 9/21(i think). Depending on the Petco, you may be able to get a 40br critter cage for $40. Some Petcos sell the critter cages along with the aquariums for $1/gallon as well.
PS- I will be doing enclosure upgrades(hopefully next year), I'm switching to PVC cages. Just a thought for you. There are some here who have really nice setups. I know Gio posts some good pics of his RTB enclosure.
