Attention seeking
So, my ball is doing wonderfully as of late. It's ungodly hot and muggy outside, but he's got it made in his climate-controlled little vivarium. (Lucky, some of us have class to go to...)
But there's something that's been perplexing me about his behavior for awhile now. See, there's a backdrop in the tank. I think it's made of styrofoam, it looks like a rock wall and it sits up against the glass in the back of the tank. It used to have a vine that he could climb(it's kind of broken now). Sometimes in the middle of the night for no apparent reason he'll squeeze himself through a gap and wedge himself between the wall and the glass. If you move him from there, he'll often go right back, which led my friends to joke that he was doing it for my attention.
Otherwise, he's perfectly fine. Alert, curious, clean and no problems.
Is there a reason he does this? Is it warmer there, or is he just weird?

Could be warmer there, he could feel safe squeezed in there.
What are his temps?

75-80. His temps stay pretty constant, it's me who always ends up freezing or overheated.
He does seem to like squeezing into tight places, though. I've offered him slightly larger hides and he still prefers to coil up like a squished spring. He operates under the misapprehension that he a liquid.

That is a bit low... he should have a hotspot of 88-90 and a cool side 80ish.
They like to squeeze in tight spaces they feel safer

Yea, the hot spot needs to be bumped up.

Ah, alright. Thanks. I keep hearing different gradients so I tried to shoot for somewhere in the middle, but bumping it up was easy. I actually thought he'd be too hot. We've been getting temperatures in the 90s and 100s the past few weeks and you can feel it inside.
Considering he went right back to the crevasse after I adjusted, he must like the tight fit. I'll offer him another small hide, but if he prefers being a sandwich I can deal with it.
