    Elusive Dream
    Sad day, need some advice.
We lost 3 of the rescued snakes today (all 3 were morph females). All were babies, just had them to the vet last Monday and all were said to be doing good. The 3 had only eaten twice in the 4 weeks I had them.

2 others (normal boys) in my opinion are on the fence but the Vet says they are fine.

All of my rodents are produced from the same guy and i have been getting them from him for over a year.
All the snakes evacuated their stomach contents from the Friday feeding (not sure out which end) the fuzzies seemed to be completely undigested, and all the snakes were/are deep in shed.

Checked the rack over and every other snake is fine, temps are spot on (hot spot 90 inside the tub base, stat at 93, ambient between 79-81).

Dehumidifier is set at 55%, and meter shows 57% consistently at the rack.

Not sure what went wrong. They all seemed to be doing so well. Even when I changed water on the rack last night all were active, tongues flicking etc.

Hope the other 2 pull out of it. Again the vet says they are fine.

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

I rescued them to give them a better life and feel that I failed them.

Sorry to hear about your losses. Did you have a necropsy done on the ones that passed? That's really the only way IMO to know what happened to them.

    :tears:

You gave them in their last few days what they had been denied previously: good husbandry and a loving owner

That's what you gotta keep in mind.

I hope everything works out with the other 2...hang in there

:tears: Big hugs to you. I'm so sorry. You definitely gave them loving and comfortable homes to spend their last days in, that is what you need to hang onto. I hope your other 2 pull through!

    I'm sorry for your loss.

But like Daybreaker said, I would definelty request a necropsy.

See if they can still get a fecal exam for paracites and check the gut for pathologic and atypical flora. A culture and sensitivity of the respiratory tract would also be advised as well.

    Good luck.

Question to clarify: did all 5 rescues evacuate their last meal, or just the 3 that passed?

I'm so sorry for your loss, you did the best you could for them. Sometimes nature just takes its course. Please do let us know the results of the necropsy(s) if you opt in for them, though.

Hang in tough and try not to sweat it too bad.

All 5 evacuated their last meal.

Just changed the water bowls out on the 2. They are still hanging in there. I am going to change out the water two or three times and treat them as a sick animal until they improve.

I will check with the vet on the testing of the ones that passed and get back to you guys.

    Thanks

So sorry to hear. You did what you could, I know it doesn't make it any easier but I'm a true believer in everything happens for a reason. We may not like it all the time. :(
Hope the other 2 pull through
