Snake rack... what to use instead of Aspen?
Can paper towel be used all the time in a snake rack? I'm using aspen but I hate it because there will be some of it that gets on the carpet in our basement.

I find that paper towels are the easiest as once its dirty I can just throw it out and put a new sheet of it in. Is this suitable for a substrate or should I stay away from them?

I use Repti-Zorb liners and they are great at keeping the tub clean and cutting down on overall cleaning time. I ran out yesterday and I am having to use Aspen till more come in.

Many breeders use paper towels and even newspaper a substrate without any issues. If aspen isn't working for you then you may want to use cypress bedding. It's a larger substrate so it isn't as messy and it also holds the moisture better than paper, plus it doesn't rot as readily as aspen.

I use clean white packing paper, folded in half, which creates a double layer the animals can hide under. I get 200 sheets for $10.

Totally fine. Also newspaper, butcher paper, or unprinted paper. I use newspaper all the time.
