I suppose I never introduced myself
I guess I joined nearly a month ago, right before I got my first BP. I got her as a sort of rescue I guess. A low priced BP plus enclosure on a local classified because the owner was going away to school. As per usual (and to hubby's dismay) I ended up having to spend at least $100 more getting husbandry up to par (they had no UTH, thermostat, etc).
More about myself, I am a 33 year old mother of 3 girls. As a child I was a total tom-boy. If you were a reptile or amphibian I had to have you in my hand LOL. My oldest daughter was terrified of the idea of snakes, so I decided that we should have one...and honestly why didn't I have one already??!
Since getting her (penelope aka penny, our normal bp) I am completely in LOVE! I hold her for at least an hour a night (probably selfishly, since I know that might be excessive, but she seems content)
I studied biochemical technology in college (having a love for science), but upon graduating (I had lab jobs but more medical) was pregnant with my first daughter and never really got into my field. Genetics was a big part of my studies and snakes were a huge part of my childhood, and the idea of combing the two is becoming nearly obsessive for me LOL. I know this is NOT a money making venture. I should expect that at best I might make a few dollars and at worst I have to run up huge vet bills. Still the urge to breed is so strong LOL. Hubby is not into herps :(, although he's tolerant, and he's basically told me to wait a year to get my next bp. I think I can do it, but it's going to take real patience.
