Ok say that there were cages that kept all conditions perfect and fed your reptile with a magical beam of light and was very cheap to buy and run would you miss the old challenges and become a grumpy old person and be telling your grandchildren how you had to feed your snake with tongs and they will look at you like you're crazy.

What watt bulbs for BP's and kingsnakes?
I think it would be cool but also kinda boring. i think the challenges of keeping a snake make it more intresting.

I love doing all those things to take care of my animals. I think that's why I have so many (and growing). I'm a glutton for punishment - or I'm just sick.

Well i started thinking about this when i read this article and this guy said "Reptiles are in the middle of a renaissance right now" and it's kinda true and the more it becomes popular the more business are going to notice and start making things easier building things specifically for are reptiles and making them alot cheaper and easier to acquire I mean could you imagine going through the pet food section of wallmart and seeing a little freezer with rodents inside or the friendly next door retic crawling all over you when you visit them for a picnic lol. Sorry this is just a thought that keeps me busy when I get bored. I know it's really far out there I'm just trying to create an image.

Keeping reptiles would be very boring if it was all automated. The challenge in keeping reptiles is one of the main reasons why i got into it. You can call it a hobby i guess because when i am not working i am taking care of the snake and its needs and my chameleon and his needs.

Obviously we all enjoy the extra work and challenges that go along with keeping herps, but from another standpoint, having a fully automated enclosure would be a great thing. If they were easier to take care of, there would probably be a lesser number of abandoned herps. Breeders could be sure that their products would be properly cared for. Sure, Rusty wouldn't be quite as busy, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind if it meant that more herps were living in better or even ideal conditions.

Those kind of cages would be perfect for pet stores

problem solved and a quick question
if there was no challenge it would be boring, half the fun in keeping herps is the challenge.
