How to wrap screen top?

Need to boost my humidity up in my tank and was wondering how are you suppose to wrap the screen top with either seran wrap or tin foil? Do you just wrap it around like top and bottom or do you just wrap the top or just the bottom?

I would use aluminum foil. Just cut a piece that covers up to 70% of the screen and wrap it around the screen the same way you would a plate.

Ok so I will have it on top and then have the tin foil go around edges? Or should I have it wrap the top side and bottom too?

Also I have a UTH and I use a light on top for additional heat, will the foil get affected?

The foil should be able to handle the heat no problem, just don't place the lamp directly on top of the foil.

I just have an inch or so wrapped around each edge so when the screen is on the cage it is held in place.

This is how I did mine... I use foil and duct tape. The heat lamp does not get hot enough to melt the duct tape <I have mine on a dimmer switch>

Cool thanks guys! MsMissy- I like how you did your top. I'm going try that out, I will cut a circle out for my lamp, how far you think I should have my dome light be away from foil? This way I know how big I should make the circle.

I would keep an inch around the heat lamp. This isn't a fire risk or anything, The foil could go all the way up to touching the edge of the heat lamp safely, but it is an ideal place for air exchange, so a small gap would be good.

I'd cut it about 1" large than the lamp so when it's sitting on the screen you get some air flow around it. In hindsight, it kinda depends on your top. Do you have one that the whole top needs to be removed to get in the tank? Or do you have one that has a hinged door to get into like mine does? I have one of ea and man do I love the one with the door and locks. I have to keeps pair of 1x3x13's on my other tank with a brick on each to ensure the sneaky sucker doesn't get out. I might have a pic of that one around but I think you get the idea.

Yea I have the screen that you need to take completely off in order to go inside tank. I will be upgrading his tank soon, just trying figure exactly everything out with it. So time being his current home still needs to be perfect! Lol

In that case, I would stop the foil about an inch from one side and cut the circle 1 inch over diameter for air. You may want to carry the tape over the sides so it secures to the screen top frame. Helps make it stick better.
