Building?

I picked up a female proven Yellow belly on the 26th of July. When I weighed her she was over 2200g. When I bought her from the breeder he said that he had been pairing her with a GHI but that she had never ovulated that season. He also said that he ultrasounded her on the 25th of July and she had 5 mm follicles. Yesterday when I was checking out everyone's tubs, she seemed bigger. I am not sure if I am getting my hopes up, but could she be possibly building? I don't think it is an ovulation yet, but I really do think she seems fatter! I am attaching a picture of her when I got her, and then again today with a penny next to her for size comparison. Its still hard to tell a difference from the angle. I know that follicle development can take 4-8 months, but how long is it to ovulation if her follicles were already 5 mm? Fingers crossed that she just decided to ovulate late ;) I could use some bonus Ghi babes!

Palpate her....she could be building. Can't really tell in those pics. Good Luck

if they were 5mm then, I'd guess her next shed would be her preov shed.
Watch for her to glow after she sheds.

5mm follicles is far from where you want to be. they can be at 5 mm for a while or continue to grow depending if she started her breeding cycle yet. most with ultrasounds don't start placing a male in until they are 12 to 15mm.

So I weighed her again this weekend and she has gained about 100g without being fed anything (she has been refusing all meals). She is also going into shed now... I sure hope she is building ;)
