    Ultrasound Help
    Hi Everyone,

I invested in an ultrasound and started using it last night. I only tried it on one female but not sure if I was doing it correctly, can anyone who has experience with ultrasounding ball pythons check this attached image? I *think* those are follicles, I measured the larger ones to be around 5mm. Looks like I'm going to need more practice! Thanks

That's pretty cool. How much did that baller machine set you back if you don't mind me asking?

I work in the medical field and have some connections with equipment vendors, but machines can be had for less than 2k if you look around enough. Just make sure you get the proper probe and frequency, I think the 7.5 Mhz linear probe is the most widely used for snakes.

Those are follicles. Find the gall bladder(large back cirlce on u/s) Girls generally have small follicles like that in the off season. When they get to 10-15 mm you can start pairing them up.

Thanks, at least I know I was on the right track. I find the gall bladder and inch back towards her tail. This was on my 1600g Lesser Champagne, I will try on a different female tonight.

Just keep doing it on females every 2-4 weeks. Generally, mine don't start growing until winter but you may have a few that start early or may be going late. It will get a lot more obvious when the follicles hit 10-15 mm.
Grant has an excellent DVD at lavenderalbino.com that you can get that will make you an expert.

Thanks, I actually spoke to grant over the phone this morning and he is sending me a DVD. He was a really nice guy who has a wealth of information. This ultrasound will eliminate some of the guess work for sure.
