Male breeding size.

I am looking at buying a new multi gene male and I was wondering what would be a minimum breeding size for a male.
I was looking at a '12 he is around 300grams.
Do you think there would be enough time to get him up to breeding weight for the coming season?

Some males will breed around 500 grams, I typically start at around 700-800 and about a year old.

Is he a late 2012? 300 grams seems a little small for a 12'.

Some males will breed at 500grams, some wont breed till much larger. I have a lesser that was 800 grams last year and just wouldn't lock with the ladies. I'm hoping this year he'll have a go, he's 1200grams now.

It's possible however the main question is will he be interested?

Can he reach breeding size and produce sperm plugs? Yes likely if you start later in the season.

There are people breeding smaller males successfully however you do need to pay attention to your male, you could easily lose him as breeding can take it's toll on smaller males.

Bottom line you can never tell even if he is breeding size does not mean he will be interested.

Not trying to be a downer but making you aware that with animals there are never any certainties, all you can do is try and see.

1.0 Enchi Fire, 2012 at 380g with plugs hitting up my 2200g Pastel.

He was maintenance fed by breeder so he is mature, but smaller in size. He is eating like a hog now and gaining weight nicely.

My smaller younger males werent interested this year. My 1000+ gram older boys boys locked with everyone.

Yeah the male I am looking at getting was fed smaller meals because he has no intention of keeping the ones he plans on selling.
