    Tank Cleaning Tips/Best Practices
    Hello!
I just recently acquired my first snake (7-8yrold BP now named Plissken). I'm new to the process of being a snake owner and new to the forum (also new member of RTB forum). The tank I have received has been his standard tank, but I'm curious as to how to best clean it, both for over all cleaning and general upkeep cleaning. I would greatly appreciate any tips, tricks, guidance, etc.

    Thanks!

I think it depends on your substrate. For me I use corrugated wrap, replace it every time they go bio. When I was using Eco-Earth I would spot clean when needed and do a full cleaning with new substrate every few weeks. I used the below for cleaning/disinfecting.

Hi! Welcome to the forum, and ball pythons in general. :D

I recommend you pick up a bottle of Chlorhexadine solution. You can find it at CVS or another similar pharmacy. I love cleaning with the stuff because it sanitizes, suds up and cleans really well, and you don't even have to rinse it if you don't feel like it, because it's just that reptile (and fish) safe.

Other than that, just some regular old soap and water, and then rinsed really well is a good option. Many people believe in sterilizing the enclosures as well, and that can be done with a cap-full of bleach in a gallon of water (or so), just make sure you rinse very very thoroughly. :)

Thanks! I'm using what was provided when I was given the snake, it's Aspen snake bedding. I'm still in the research phase of this. It is such a novel concept, the closest I can compare it to is British vehicle ownership!

I use a diluted Simple Green solution. It is non-toxic and cleans really well. I swear by it.

I'm using Braun Meliseptol Foam. Washing with hot water first, let it dry, spray a bit of the foam and wish it all over. Dries out quickly.
