you are going to encounter alot of ass holes during your work expierences, but remeber, customer is ALWAYS right, as much as you want to say " here is our new venomous snake care to hold it around your neck" try to keep it in :)

LOL! I could never own a business because I'd throw that 'the customer is always right' crap out the window....and I'd probably go bankrupt! :D

I've never worked at a petstore, but I will offer you this. I'm sure that you will find some things that you feel they don't do right or that even upset you. If so, I'd advise against speaking up right away. Take a little time to fit in, get to know all their ins-and-outs, their procedures, take notes, etc. Get a good feeling for who would be an open-minded enough person (someone with some power) to listen to any of your concerns or suggestions. Don't come off as a know it all or anything. In any job you have that you want to make a difference in - you've got to first be seen as credible, trustworthy and intelligent person. You need to gain their trust and respect. Then once you determine who might be open to your ideas, approach them with confidence (not arrogance). Heck, you might even share some of the things you see/find with people on this forum for some feedback and ideas.

You may go there and not find anything wrong (that would be wonderful), but stores like that are often used to people coming in wanting to change things and so they may be quick to dismiss any suggestions.

I bet you'll enjoy it. You will have a unique opportunity to educate people, but there will be idiots that will make you want to scream. I meet them when I work at the zoo and have to contain my desire to deck them.

It's a wonderful opportunity and I hope you'll share your experiences with us. Have fun, learn and enjoy it - but don't lose sight of the awesome chance you have to make a positive impact for our little scaley and furry friends.

And don't be late your first day! :D

    YES YES YES
I could never work at one either. I got a job offer once and turned it right down. I wouldn't let people that are stupid buy anything, and half the people are stupid.

yeah i know im going to have to deal with a few stupid people, like i said the pet store isnt that big and since it is a small town its not that busy either but they get thier share of bussiness.Only two guys work there(aside from the guys who come in weekly to clean up) so if i think something needs to be changed i dont have to worry about talking to alot of people, i know them pretty well becuase i have been going to this pet store for almost a year now,so anything i say they will most likely listen to. Even though i am young they know i am good with animals (all kinds) and i think thats why he wants me there. In the store there is a few animals (reptiles) i dont know much about so im looking forward to learnin all i can and i think this will be alot of fun. i cant wait till tomorrow !!!!!!
