Rant/vent
No need to read, i just need to vent :) I'm really aggravated right now. My boyfriend's uncle stopped by to pick up some rats and steal some bedding for his two corns. He's talked about them a bit in the past when he's visited, but I've never seen them. He said he's had them since hatchlings, and they're now 2-3 years old. I've previously given him small ASF when he needed them, which he said were too big... Um, for a 3 year old corn? I don't think so. I guess he used to feed 1 or 2 pinks from petco before I started supplying him, and I just gave him smalls because I had a hunch he's been severely under feeding.
So this time he brought the two corns over because his son wanted to show them off. I was shocked. They're about the size of my 6 month hog (ok, well maybe a little bigger. But still). Anyway, he gets here and he's transporting them in a large critter keeper, about 5"x8", if that. They're gorgeous, but spazzing out because apparently they haven't eaten in almost a month, and the critter keeper is also what he feeds them in :/
One of them actually bit my bf's mom, not defensive or aggressive, just calmly started gnawing on her thumb since she smelled like rats.
I want to pull my hair out! Thank goodness he at least feeds them separately. But it's ridiculous, I ALWAYS have whatever size he needs in stock, but he 'forgets' to stop by. I can't tell you how many times he's said he'll swing by for rats 'this week', only to show up 3 weeks later. He also hasn't done his monthly tank cleaning in who knows how long because he was out of bedding. There's no excuse for them to go without, especially since I practically give my feeders away to him.
We start talking, and he houses them together in either a 10 or 20 gal tanks (he can't remember which). So I kindly tell him they should be housed separately for their benefit, and he might want to brush up on some caresheets and he's all "well they've been together since babies, they get along great, yada yada". Sooo frustrating. Granted, I haven't had corns since I was a kid, and it pains me to admit I followed the stupid pamphlet at petco, but with all the resources out there, this is inexcusable. Can I seize his animals? Ugh. Ok end of rant.

I see him possibly only having one corn in the future (from one eating the other)....this makes me sad, there's no excuse to not properly feed your animals. Does he not feed f/t? I bet that would be much more convenient for him and his corns would probably take f/t readily. :(

That's the thing. They're on f/t, always have been. I usually give him all of my small/medium ASF so he's stocked up and can feed them when they need to be fed. I only have one hoggie that's eating that size, so it's not a big deal. I have more peace of mind knowing he has 20 or so feeders in stock. I can always grow out more for my guys ;)

Re: Rant/vent
That's Very disheartening. :( If he won't listen to you trying to help him, then there's nothing you can do. One day, one of the corns with either eat each other or he'll have an unplanned clutch that could cause the female to become egg bound. It's a tough lesson he'll have to learn on his own.

Can you be blunt?
Just tell him out right right that he's being a 'jack'butt and needs to get his 'poop' right.
If he wont listen to you being nice then what harm comes from being straight out.
Get all up in his grill son!!!!!! :rolleye2:

Just tell him straight up. If that doesn't work tell your boyfriend if he doesn't get those snakes then he's not getting any until he does. Something will get done, lol.
