Ok i have had Jojo a little over 2 years now and am wondering about the feeding schedule of an adult ball python. He weighs in at 850 grams and looks very plump. I feed him a small rat every sunday. His anal spurs almost look like they are imbedded under his skin. Should i change the feeding schedule or keep the same schedule and feed smaller items?

I think the concensus is to stick with the same size prey item. If your bp is full grown and pleasantly plump, they only need to eat once every other week or so. If you do that for a couple of months and notice him thinning out, shorten your interval. The idea is to tweak their feeding schedule to work with their metabolism. There are a lot of fat bp's out there, if I'm not mistaken, obesity can shorten their overall lifespan.

That is my main concern. I want him around when ever I find a suitable female.
