    Lipstick Sunglow vs. Sunglow
    Me again... lol

So I've got my eye on a lipstick sunglow. I've been told by other local breeders that there really are not that many Canadians breeding the Lipsticks, and that the snake I'm looking at may just be a Sunglow, not a Lipstick Sunglow.

Is there any way to know the difference at a young age? (it's a 2012)

A Lipstick is a specific line of Kahl strain albino. The Lipsticks are known for having a slightly deeper coloration and more distinct patterns. They can have a pinker overtone as well (although they are not usually as pink as corals). A sunglow is a hypo albino. The lipstick trait goes with the albino gene, not the hypo gene. So if it is a lipstick sunglow, it is referred to as that because the albino parent used to create that sunglow was a lipstick albino.

There may not be as many breeders working with Lipsticks in Canada so they may be harder to find up there. But a good sunglow is pretty spectacular whether it's a lipstick or not. I saw the picture of the snake you are looking at (I did respond in that thread too) and that snake isn't a sunglow. It may be a lipstick albino, but it is definitely not a sunglow.

Personally, I wouldn't limit your options by trying to find a lipstick. Look for a sunglow with sharp and distinct patterns and lots of color and you'll be quite happy with the results. :gj:
