    Breeding weight
Alright guys. So I spent the last 12 years dealing with boas at any time I was keeping 10-15. in the last year I sold off all my boas except two. I had bps off and on, but just as pets. A year ago I decided to go into bps almost exclusively. I bought a female '11 caramel and a male '11 spider het caramel. I read a lot before deciding to purchase them and was aware of the issues with both. I've gotten to know the breeders well since I purchased them and they have had much better than average luck with them. They've had a very small percentage of kinks. All my other females are '12s and won't be ready until next year. I recently weighed both of those snakes. The female is 1350 grams and the male 1200. I was shocked seeing as how I had not planned on her being ready to go. Both are eating small f/t rats every 7-10 days. At this rate she should land anywhere from 1500-2000 grams and 2 years old. I don't really have a question, more searching for advice. I realize she is going to be 1500 and she has very Hardy size and muscle to her. But would you hold off until next year our would you give it a shot this year. I have a fridge I'm turning into an incubator and could be ready. What are your thoughts guys

I would pair them this year. If shes not ready, she wont go.

I would go ahead and pair them. If the female has good body condition (I.e. not skinny or thin) she is probably physically fit to endure the breeding season. On top of body condition, sexual maturity is important. If she is 2 like you say she is, she's probably mature. If she's not ready, she won't go.

Don't worry about her weight as much as her body condition. A long skinny girl at 2000g is not as good of a breeding candidate as a thick short girl at 1200g.
The 1200g girl has better fat reserves the endure the breeding season and process than a long skinny 2000g. And even if you pair your girl at 1500g, she'll bulk up a bunch before ovulation when she builds.

I too would pair. If she's not sexually mature she wont take and if she is she will be a safe weight. Goodluck!

Thanks for your opinions guys. She's definitely thick enough and solid. I just didn't know how much the two years was going to be an issue. Thanks again
