    Average 1yr size
Just curious....what would you say is the average weight of a year-old bp? I know it varies quite a bit--just wondering. My snake is a little over a year old (june or july 2012), 30" long+/-, and I have no idea how much he weighs. He eats two adult mice a week and I might kick it up to three. I know rats are preferable but I have a bunch of frozen mice and want to get rid of them before I buy any rats. Anyway, I was just curious. Here's a pic for reference:

He's looks about right for length. My yearlings are usually between 800-1000 grams. I'd put him at around that, maybe closer to the 800 gram mark. He looks a tad bit on the thin side I think kicking up his food intake would be a good idea. The average adult mouse is about 20-25 grams and a 1000 gram ball python should be eating between 100 -150 grams in a feeding. 4 may be a bit much to throw at him in one feeding but you may want to feed 3 mice, every 5 days or so if you still want to feed mice.

My yearlings are no where near that size, but then I generally feed a lot less then most people. There really isn't an 'average' size for ball python yearlings, it's pretty much depends on how much and how often you feed them.

If they eat consistently, mine usually hit between 1000-1500 grams by their first year...

That's about what I was thinking. As always, the info is much appreciated!
