Movement in Eggs When Candling?

Hi Everyone, I am on day 35 of incubation of my first clutch of 5 BP Eggs. I have two questions, firstly, I candled them today and they all have good strong veins including the booby egg, my question is should I be able to see movement inside the eggs and if so at what stage of development can I expect this?
Secondly My incubator had a temporary temperature Spike today (my wife accidently turned up the temp gauge) Temps went up to about 40 degrees for about an hour, will this affect the eggs development at all?

Any advice/help would be most gratefully received,

I usually see movement between day 37-42 weird number, but that's usually when I am looking the most. When you say went up to 40, do you mean went up to 130?! Or only went up to 40 degrees? Normal incubation is between 88-91..

I'm going to assume that when you say went up to about 40 degrees that you're in the UK temperatures are based off Celsius. 40°c is equal to 104°f.

I can't give you a positive answer about everything being okay, but maybe one of the other people that are more familiar with breeding can give you that answer. I wouldn't think 104 for for an hour would cause any ill affects, but let somebody with more knowledge chime in on this one. Sorry it happened though and good luck.

Small world, I also live in Croydon :D

Mine are on day 40-ish, have observed some movement, only really silhouettes in the bottom part of the egg...

As for the spike, where is the probe that registered it? I find changes to be very gradual between incubator vs egg tub temps, so hopefully the spike would have little effect on the eggs themselves? Have read several occasions of worse spikes than your's for longer periods, so hopefully they should be ok!

What's the pairing?

Spikes can be completely disastrous or spikes can do nothing. It completely depends on the stage of development, from what I understand. You will only know once they hatch.

Again, thanks for the replies Guys. Small world indeed Ben!! The probe of the thermometer is in the tub with the eggs. Pairing is Het Albino x Het Albino (both unproven)

Am really looking forward to seeing the movement in the eggs.

Ok Guys been Candling the Eggs every 4-5 days now and am seeing movement in 4 of them but the 5th one, the Booby egg I cannot see any movement from the baby, however I can see what appears to be a vein Pulsing, is the egg still viable do you think? I should mention that this is the Egg that got white mould on the one end to which I have been applying Athletes Foot Powder as advised here.

Would be most grateful for any help/advice offered.

In some of my eggs I never managed to catch them moving, and in most it was pretty subtle, like a little twitch or gentle shift in position (which was hard to distingush from my shakey hhands moving the light). You should be seeing patterns soon, but that won't be obvious if you hit the albinos.

If it were me, I'd keep trying with the boob egg until you're absolutely certain there's no hope (and veins = hope).

Just wait, no need to keep candling. If the egg has went bad, it will look bad.

Just wait and eventually they will hatch!
