This is only 20 mins from me, I want to go patiently talk everyone down and then smack the owner for not keeping a closer eye on it. (Disclaimer: I do not actually condone violence, its just super frustrating to have this happening in my backyard.)

Lately it doesn't seem like it.

The thing I don't get is what did he do? Take it outside and then just leave it out there alone? I've taken Ella outside a few times but I never ever leave her out there by herself.

I'm in Philly. The coverage I saw on it seemed pretty fair, all things considered.

They said that it wasn't venomous, and hasn't been trouble for the owners- but that they can't guarantee how it'll react to strangers so please call 911 if you find it.

I personally think 911 is a bit of a stretch, but my parents were both LEOs so I might have more of an idea of what my options would be (non-emergency line, animal control...). That said, I'd rather anyone unfamiliar with snakes did call 911 than try to catch it themselves and get hurt and have the boa end up in the news a second time.

I live just south of PA and we've had unseasonably cool, dry weather for the last few days. The snake is probably holed up somewhere trying to stay warm.

The owner was stupid to do that but I am surprised at how fair that article is.

Wow, why does our hobby have to get some ignorant keepers. This is totally unnecessary and more annoying by the day. I have to watch what I say, it's not good to wish anything on people.
