Hi,
I am thinking to switch out the backdrop in my enclosure. Currently it's one of those DIY styrofoam + grout deals. I switch it out pretty often because I can be a little over the top about cleaning sometimes and it bugs me that I can't put it through the dishwasher. I came across a tutorial on a backdrop made from silicone and substrate (I can't remember where, I was just something googled.) I thought it might be helpful with humidity as I would be able to mist it and I would think it would hold moisture pretty well (I tend to fight humidity issues and I don't mist the floor.)
I'm wondering from anyone who is familiar with these kind of backdrops, how well they actually hold up. Again I'm, of course, concerned with cleaning it (seems to me it would be a similar frustration to those horrid Exo-Terra jungle vines.)
If it would help with humidity, I wouldn't mind having to replace it every 3 months or so (I replace the substrate more often than that but since the snake wouldn't really be crawling on it, it shouldn't get too dirty, right?) or does this seem like a bad, unclean idea?
