    American Rodent Supply Query
Anyone use them? The deals on their website are a steal compared to RoderntPro and MiceDirect. Free shipping is killer. Is this too good to be true?

They have been my regular rodent supplier over the years, except last year when they had a severe shortage. I don't know what happened but they're back on track now. Always correctly sized, free shipping for $100+ orders, and the order always arrives frozen solid. I highly recommend them.

I've order from them once. The rats came in cheap ziplock bags. Half the bags were split down the side. I wouldn't order from them again. I didn't want to pay shipping so now I breed my own.

I will agree that it looks to good to be true after checking it out. Maybe they don't put dry ice in in and find a cheap way to overnight a well insulated box? I'd be interested to know.

They use ground shipping in the same 1 inch insulated cooler type styrofoam that companies ship frozen food in with lots of dry ice. Why would anyone save a couple bucks on dry ice then spend 2-3x as much on overnight shipping? If you look at the price per rodent, they are higher than RP or MD. That partially makes up for free shipping. The free shipping also is only in certain areas, they say cheap shipping to other areas. Never had ripped bags from them. I always get ripped bags from Mice Direct. I've been ordering from them for 4 years and never had a problem.

I have used American Rodent Supply for several years now with no issues. I made $1000 order earlier this year from them. In Price range Really American Rodent Supply is in the middle. I have done a lot of price comparisons including shipping. The value of free shipping adds up a a lot, saving between 20-30%.

Well, I see it this way.

RP and MC have Small Rats for $1.50 (standard rate; not counting the special sales they sometimes have). So I usually get 100 at a time. So that's $150 + ~$45 shipping = $195ish.

    ARS is $1.75. Times 100 = $175 + No shipping. So I save $20 there. That's a little more that 10% savings.

And the more you order the larger the percentage of savings. RP and MD charge more for every box they use. At about $75 for a full box of rats that adds up quick.
