Can I use Beechwood Chippings for Bedding/Substrate?

I've decided to not use newspaper anymore for my ball pythons because it's harder to spot clean etc. I seen a video on youtube where the reptile keeper stated that aspen bedding can get stuck in the cloaca of ball pythons and become infected. I don't see a lot of videos of beechwood chippings being used for ball pythons, but I do see a lot of videos of beechwood chippings being used for corn snakes. My corn snakes use beechwood chippings because I got a big bag of it with one of them, and because its about to run out I have a few questions:

1. Can beechwood chippings be harmful to ball pythons?
2. Can aspen bedding be harmful to corn snakes?
3. What do you think would be a good way for me to proceed?

I don't know what beechwood is. Most use either paper towel/newspaper or aspen.

And you're not supposed to spot clean newspaper..

I also have never heard of beechwood chips.
You just throw out the out paper and use new no need to spot clean.

Holy bitter reply, Batman! All she was saying is that newspaper is so easy and cheap to replace, there is no need to spot clean - you just pull out the soiled paper and replace it with fresh. It's about as easy as it gets. If there were a big known problem with aspen, then most of the big breeders (in the US anyway) wouldn't be using it. Aspen is the #1 recommended shavings-style bedding for most snakes - balls and corns included (again, in the US).

As far as your beechwood question, I don't know of anything that would suggest using it would have any negative effects on your snakes. Use whichever bedding style is easiest for you to perform maintenance with.
