When to introduce the male for the first time?
Ok here's the deal. I am fairly new to the hobby and have been doing my share of reading and researching for almost a year. My question is when is the ideal time to introduce the male? Is it as easy as cooling temps for a few weeks then introducing? I am planning to start cooling in Nov/Dec. Do I literally throw him in the female's tub and cross my fingers?

Not sure if this'll help to answer your question or not, but it's one of the things I've got bookmarked that's likely to come in useful when I start breeding my girls: http://www.jkobylkareptiles.com/pdfs...hedule_Doc.pdf

Cooling isn't necessary for breeding. Some people cool, others don't. Its personal preference. I leave the hotspot the same year round. The ambient temp changes with the season.

Personally, I just introduce the male to the female and the magic happens if both are mature.

the ideal time to start placing a male in with a female. is when the female's follicles reach 12 to 15 mm in size.

I start pairing in November typically. I don't worry about cooling. The room cools naturally from summer to winter.
