Karma ball question

So I have really been thinking of what male to breed to me lesser and butter females. I think I have decided on a purple passion (phantom/mojave). I am still not sure if I want to buy one outright or buy a breeder 0.1 mojave and 1.0 phantom to make my own. My question is by breeding the purple passion to either a butter or lesser I have a 25% chance at a karma ball and 25% chance at a bel. Is there any way to tell the two apart without breeding them?

I honestly do not know.

Maybe the patterns are different under blacklights?

Maballs did a nerd video using blacklights on youtube so that might be worth checking out?

I would think Ralph Davis would know? He was the one who first produced Karmas, if anybody would know how to tell a Karma from a mojo/lesser it would be him. You could try emailing him.

Well, A Karma, which IS a BEL, is a combination of Lesser and Phantom. By breeding a purple passion which is a mojave/phantom to a lesser, on average 50% of the clutch would be BEL's. Now half of those BEL's would be Mojave/Lessers and half of them would be Lesser/Phantoms(IE: Karma). I don't think there is a real sure fire way of telling the two apart, though I believe that the Karma SHOULD be a little darker and have a little more pattern. However, I think it's more likely that it would just be confusing.

Thanks for the correction. Yeah they will all be BEL's just the phantoms would be named different. I did find the Karmas should have a dorsal stripe under the black light. HERE
