Caramel pied

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between a caramel pied and a caramel pied (upscale line)

You pointed the difference yourself. Different lines of caramel.
Technically they are both the same combo tho, caramel pieds. Some lines of Caramel out there don't suffer from the kinking or fertility issues tho.

That much I follow. I understand that some lines show far less kinking and defects. I have not heard that there were lines that did not exhibit this at all. What lines are these? And also, does anyone know who's line is the upscale line? What's to stop anyone from saying there line is"upscale"?

Nothing really , any person can lie. I dont know if the lines of caramel have any actual distinguishing characteristics to tell one from the other. In that case you just buy your caramel from a reputable breeder who knows what line they have.

It is my understanding that the Caramels I am searching for rather futilely, Crider Caramel Albino exhibit no kinking rather than reduced incidence of it. Those aren't compatible with most other Caramels as one type is T+ and the other is T-.

I cannot comment on Upscale Caramel but, if my Crider luck keeps going the same way I'll have to start researching different lines to find what I want.

I would really like to know if these Upscale Caramels are compatible myself now.

I've been trying to find out who's line it is. The breeder I bought my caramel from has had very good luck. His line has experienced almost no kinking with the visual to het breedings. I get my rats from him and he has been very helpful to me with my ball pythons. I know some others have had a tough go of it. My female just eclipsed the 1000g mark and I plan on being her to a spider het caramel. After that, I plan on getting a pied male and trying to breed a caramel pied. Gonna take a while but I want one terribly

I would just drop "caramel" off the Crider name to avoid confusion as it's not a different line of caramel but a different mutation all together. Ironically I think it might be the mutation originally called "caramel" but it took to long to become available and got replaced by what we now call caramel.

I am aware that some breeders report much better luck avoiding kinks (and maybe even getting female caramels to lay good eggs) than others but am not aware of it being due to different caramel lines. My guess is it's some environmental difference so not sure if the luck will be transferred to their customers or not. Would love to figure it out because I have a little caramel project and I'm on the fence about sticking with it or not.
