    Heater setup
Hey guys, I had a few questions about thermostats, dimmers and timers. A timer is pretty important for me to have for my setup and I was wondering if there are any thermostats with dimmers and timers built in that you can buy. I've seen some UK versions but I live in the US and I cannot find an american version for the life of me. If one doesn't exist, what are some good combinations of timers and dimmers that you use? Thanks! :D

I'm not sure what you are needing but Herpstats have light timers. It takes up one port so if you need to run one heating device and lights you would need a Herpstat2 at least.

You will get more/better responses if you explain what you are trying to do.

What exactly do you use the timers for? Knowing that will help us help you. The more detail the better.

I need a timer to lower or raise the temperature of a heat pad but NOT turn it off. How could I do this?

A timer is NOT the correct tool for this job. A thermostat is, no timer necessary.

A thermostat uses a temperature probe to vary the amount of power going to the heat source. You set the thermostat to the temperature that you want the heat source to stay at. Using a timer for this is just asking for trouble.

If you are trying to drop the temperature in the cage at night then a timer is still not necessary. Most quality thermostats now a days have a clock built in. This allows you to program in a time for the set temperature of the thermostat to drop to the new setting. Herpstats even allow you to gradually ramp into and out of the new temperature. That said I wouldn't recommend changing the temperatures in the cage at night. The only time this is really something to consider is when breeding.

But what if (for some reason) I'm not there to manually set the thermostat for a cooler temperature for nighttime, Is that not that big of a deal? (thank you for tolerating my ignorance)
