how often does one come across a male snake over 500g that just is not interested in breeding, despite every measure you could take? my lesser male is 900g and i've had him for three years, and he has produced one baby for me in a double sired clutch, the first year i had him. last year, i caught zero locks and naturally got no lesser babies. this year i caught two locks early in the year and nothing since. i've tried putting him in with another male, leaving the female's shed in the tub, putting plugs on the female's back near her tail. Lately i have been trying popping him before putting him in with a female... temps and humidity are where they should be, i give him 3 or 4 days with a female and usually 7 or more days off. my other males are getting the job done just fine.

Maybe he just wants some time off?

Try him next year males do not always breed when they are up to that weight its luck if they do.
I had two that just needed another year to mature and then they locked with everything.
Some need years to mature not just weight. I heard of it taking 3 years for some males just like females.

he's a 2008 is the problem. i give him lots of time off, he's had a month off at a time during parts of this years breeding. he can be a sketchy eater, and 900g is a record high for him. he usually is around 750 - 800.
