    House Snake Setup
I'm looking for relatively low cost options for a pair of house snakes. I am not up to building anything. I am considering a small Economy rack. However, I live in New England. Is there any reason I couldn't add some Styrofoam around the open sides of the rack to hold in heat better and put the air holes in the front of the tubs (cool end)? Another idea I have is to buy a 48" cage and partition it. However, it only comes with 11" heat tape. Is that enough if placed in the very middle? The bars cages are inexpensive even when purchasing two, but at 24x12 it seems like the snake would have limited movement? The room temperature here in winter is only 65F. Will heat tape/mats be enough to keep the snakes healthy?

I think Animal Plastic 48" will be the best Option..
I keep my in same rack with balls an my RBI rack have only 4" tape.. on beging and end of Heating season my room will get as low as 65-70.. I crack Thermostat to 110 and with minimum 1 inch thick layer of substrate I never had problem with burns or snakes getting cold...
My balls like little colder in winter anyway 84-76 and my house snake are per4fectly fine between 80-70

Rack (4 drawer sweater box from RBI is perfect) are nice space saver but i've kept pair of houses in low Exoterras and those are fun to watch...

So go with 48 in AP with Divider :gj::gj::gj:

I ordered the 48x24 cage with flexwatt. It seems like a really good deal for the money. I skimped on the lock, so hopefully that's ok. I won't have the snakes for a few months. I plan on ordering a thermostat next. Are there any that will fail closed? That is in the event of a problem, it will close the circuit? I'm going to love shopping for the snakes while I get everything ready and test out the cage.

Yes, I have the divider ordered. I plan to order the herpstat soon and spend a little time researching the snakes before purchasing. I live about 2 hours from NYC. I wonder how many house keepers in the area? It would be cool to see a breeding registry established to keep track of lineage.
