Inside slug and dead egg (GRAPHIC PHOTO WARNING!!!!)
Some of you have read my other post about how my first clutch was ruined due to poor timing. The one egg I thought would make it was clearly dead also so I cut it open today. I found a tiny embryo inside. The egg was less than 2 weeks old but unsure of the exact lay date as I was out of town. I also opened up a slug to see what was inside. The slug and contents (yellow goop) is in the middle of the photo and the shell of the egg is one one side of the slug and the inside of the egg and baby on the other side of the slug. I thought it was educational to see how fast the baby develops. He already has eyes but the mouth looks like a beak with a tiny hole in the end. Odd.
