    First clutch! Q on incubating..
Woke up this AM to some beautiful eggs. could have sworn it were six, but it looks like only 5 and 1 slug. This is my first clutch, so i'm freakin out about everything lol

Anyways, my incubator is running at 86 degrees, 88 degrees inside the tub. well both thermostats are placed outside of the incubator(igloo cooler) and one is reading 78 degrees(temp outside of cooler) and the other is reading 85 degrees. seems like a big diff to me.
now these readings are based of the probes inside the units and not the probes inside the cooler and tub. what would you guys do? ditch them both and buy two new ones or calculate temp using these measurements?
Also, I'm thinking maybe I'll put TWO probes inside the tub for more accuracy, what do you guys think or do?

As long as they both read the same inside the egg tub that's what matters. If not you may want to look at a new one.

I'm probably just over thinking things. It's funny how we spend hundreds on racks t stats and other husbandry supplies from specialty stores and trust a 6$ thermometer from Walmart for accuracy lol

It's fine to be using $12 thermometers. Even if they are the slightly off in thier clibration they gauge the stability. However, you should really pick up a temp gun and verify with it. The accuracy is far better. Then try to use a thermometer that is closely matching the temp gun values.
