Misting

I haven't misted in about a year, because humidity in my cages is great. But since I've had to start misting for my cresties, I've just taken to misting the bp cages at the same time. I've noticed a very positive effect. I've had two sheds since I've started, all turning out perfect. And after ever misting the bp's come out to play, they become very active.

Just a good experience I've had, maybe you should see if it works for you.

I mist my guys but they are oblivious in their hides. I have hides I cant get them out of either... oh well hehe

i have no need to mist... whenever one of snakes goes into shed i just fill their dish up with a little extra water, which creates way more humidity than they actually need. all perfect sheds though.

Same way here. When i still used an aquarium to house Andy i needed to mist, but after switching to rubbermaids i havent had to. Sprocket, Andy, and ( when he was still around ) Homer all had perfect sheds the first time they were in the rubbermaids. Not to say that misting hurts, but with my humidity high enough i dont have to.

I have no need to either, and sheds were pretty good prior to my mistings (I'd tip the bowl a bit and bam, humidity shot up). I just discovered that even with proper humidity, they enjoy mistings. After every misting Monty goes cage cruising. It's kind of cool to see, don't see it too much cause they sleep all day.

i have not misted my snaked cage since he got mites. the vet said his cage was to moist after misting, and to keep it dry for a while. when it comes time to mist again i thought about getting an ultrasonic mister. or a fogger. i wanted to put it in a second higher up water bowl so the fogg could come down like a waterfall. would this be safe for my boy? http://www.exoticlizards.com/fogger.html

We use a fogger of some sort for Bob and he loves it when we turn it on as well. He gets moving around after it has been on for a few minutes.

I'm trying to get my humidity to drop now. The outside humidity is mostly staying in the 90's and my AC is dead, so I am having a hard time getting humidity low enough for the snakies without removing their water dishes, which I obviously don't want to do. I have put in smaller dishes and moved them all to the cool sides, but everyone is still over 70%. Arrrgh.

Wow I have heard so much different stuff on misting bp's. Mostly, I've read that they are from a dry region and misting too much can cause blister disease.
