    I thought I bought a snake not a monkey!!

Ambient temp seems to be at 85 with hot spot 90 and cool about 83

Only thing I can think of is he doesn't feel very secure.

It really is normal for them to do this. I wouldn't worry about it.

A lot of people tend to say ball pythons don't like to climb, but I'd have to disagree.

As the others have said, as long as the husbandry is correct and he's eating, don't worry!

Maybe add a branch in there so he has something to climb!

My display bps all get trees to climb if they choose:

My girl does this constantly. It seems as if her favorite past time is to stretch across her tank and touch absolutely everything she can. She's had her tail on the thermometer, across the top of her log hide, over her branch and then her head just over her water bowl after she got a drink. She'll stay that way for a little while before hanging off of something else. It's a little comical.

He'll settle down. This is Antigone in her QT tank the week we brought her home. She did settle in and start using her hides after a few days.

Magnus used to have a hanging branch and he went up there every night. I bet these guys are secretly arboreal.
