GTPs - how difficult are they?
So, I have been toying with the idea of adding a GTP to the collection for a while now. My work schedule should (I hope) quiet down next year, so I feel more comfortable keeping one. We have been keeping BPs for about 7 yrs, and we also have a Coastal and a JCP. Obviously, since I have at least a year to plan, I will be doing a great deal more research. But I guess I'm just curious...how much more difficult are they than Carpet pythons? I realize that is a pretty vauge question, but I don't know anyone that keeps them, so I'm just looking for general thoughts on the difficulty level.

The More Complete Chondro is well worth reading even if you are only thinking about getting into GTP's. The author really puts it in perspective and gives you a lot of information on the care of the animals and weather you wish to keep one. Its also only 15 bucks on kindle now.

X2 on investing in the More Complete Chondro, its a book every chondro owner should have. Chondros are great, they are not as difficult as some people make them out to be but they do have specific husbandry requirements that cannot be "short cut". They are not a cheap investment snake, but if you are willing to spend the money on a proper enclosure and a quality animal, I personally think they are the most rewarding of any species of snake. If you have any questions I would be happy to help, you can PM or email anytime. We have over 100 chondros in our collection and we are always willing to help educate new chondro owners or keepers interested in getting involved with the species.

We got our first chondros three years ago and once you get the set up right they are a breeze. Like with any reptile the set up is key. Plus they eat like pigs so unlike our BPs we've never had to worry about feeding issues. Definitely get 'The More Complete Chondro' and once you are ready to get one work with a reputable breeder who will help you select whatever you are looking for in a GTP (high yellows, blues, calm temperament, etc.).
