Is it a slug?

Got a small egg from a clutch laid yesterday. When candled, there doesn't seem to be any veins. Do veins show up early? Or only later? I'm letting mom incubate the other eggs & am unsure if I should set up my incubator for this one. She doesn't seem to want it. Advise would be appreciated. :)

Can you provide a photo?
Fertile eggs generally show veins right away. But you can wait a week to candle again to double check.

Veins are very distinct right from the start

This is an egg freshly collected and ready to be put in the incubator.

Now some veins can be weak however complete lack of veins means that the egg is infertile.

A picture would give us a better idea.

Slugs will candle as clear yellow, though nothing wrong with incubating them with the rest of the eggs if you want to

I've often heard of females sometimes having a sixth sense for infertile eggs - a roll out can mean she rejected it as a slug, but as with all things ball python, there are no guarantees!

Here are a few pictures of that egg. I'm pretty sure it's not fertile, but I have it in an incubator just in case.

Great picture! In comparison I'm pretty sure that roll out of mine's a slug.

Good info. Yes, I think she rejected it for good reason. Comments on the picture would be appreciated though since this is my first ever slug.... and only my second clutch.

Yeah, doesn't look fertile to me. I have a dud clutch from my het pied girl with a large egg that looks good but candles yellow, but I'm incubating it anyway, you never know... ;)
