I read that IBD can only be transfered to other boids. But is is limited only to boids? Cause I'm planning on getting my BP soon and I need to know if its safe to immediately put her in the same room as Elysia and Leila. I don't really have any other room in my house besides my bedroom that is suitable for snakes so I don't really have a seperate area to hold the BP for quarrentine.

As far as I've heard they've only found it in boids. But if you can, it is still a good idea to quarantine a new herp before putting in the same room as your other reptiles - for any other illnesses, etc that may occur.

Yeah, quarantine as far from your established herps as possible. Who knows what diseases may be there that we don't know about. And on the off-chance that your snake comes in with mites or ticks, distance from the others will be your best friend.

How long do I have to quarantine it? A week?

Oh no....quarantine should be at least a month. Three months is better.

I quarantine all my snakes (separate room and separate cleaning supplies) a minimum of one month (for colubrids) and 2-3 months for boids. Before they can come out of quarantine I make sure they are eating regularaly, have shed at least once, get a clear checkup and fecal from the vet and are not exhibiting any questionable behavior.

If you really can't house in a different room, then put it as far away from your other enclosures as you can. Or maybe a closet in another room or something? Ya just gotta do the best you can with what you have to work with. And don't be afraid to use your imagination.
