so my first attempt at feeding did not go as well as i hoped it would. im feeding her f/t pinky rats. she struck and got the rats body but then let go about 30 seconds later. i waited a few minutes and tried again, not she refuses. should i wait until the next feeding to try again ?

Yes, wait about 4 or 5 days before offering again. Make sure you're getting the pinky warm enough and when she strikes and coils, continue to wiggle it for a little bit before letting go. I've noticed that my bee eats better when she thinks it's alive. Also, how big is your snake? Pinkies are pretty small for most ball pythons unless they are fresh out of the egg.

If she strikes and wraps, leave her alone for a few hours. They'll often eat it after dropping it.

Mine will sometimes strike, wrap around and drop it. Usually if I leave it in there for a little while when I come back in about 30 minutes it's gone.

The next time you feed her as soon as you see her strike leave the room and don't mess with her or the area she's in for 2 hours, overnight if possible. Usually if they strike they will eat it. If they strike and let go you may have distracted them and/or they are shy.
