    i get my new tak 2maro!!. i dont know the exact demensions yet, but from what my cousin says, this cage is big. and its free!! ill post the demensions 2maro, im planning on putting my first BCI in there

    also, since the floor is wood, i need some suggestions on the UTH. im goin with a human heating pad, but is it ok if i just put it under the wood? (the bottom is hollow under the floor)

    is the wood coated with anything? I'm sure you know but pourous material is very hard to keep disinfected. Just a thought :) Congrats on a free cage!

    my cousin said it was varnished to keep it from rusting...im not sure tho havent seen the cage in a while

    I never heard of wood rusting. :P

    As for the heating pad, so long as you keep the cage raised up a bit so it's not resting directly on the pad, you should be fine. Be sure to set it all up and test it for several days at least, before actually putting the snake in there. You may find that the wood floor doesn't conduct heat very well (if it's really thick) or it may do it better than you expect and get too hot. Need to figure all this out before you put the snake in it.

    I would use some kind of substrate over the wood floor, perhaps some reptile carpet or the cheap equal found at any home improvement store. I can't imagine that a coated wood floor would be good for a snake. Would you want to have to scoot around on that?

    Congrats on the cage though...gotta love freebies!
