Well I send the wife to pick up rats for me at the store since I had forgotten to pick em up on saturday and the pet store was closed on sunday. So I tell her "get me one small and one medeum rat, but make sure the medeum rat is on the small side". Well when I got home I found a descent sized small rat, and a monster medeum rat. I say " holy! this thing is huge , is this a medeum?" she says "thats what the lady told me, and thats what you said you wanted."

This thing was six inches nose to butt and just as fat as my STP. Well let me tell you I could not beleive my eyes as he devoured this thing in about ten minutes. I thought his face was gonna pop but he took it without hesitation and I realy beleive hes put on some weight since that last feeding. Of course he still hasnt pooped yet, so today I gave him his first soak for 20 minutes, I hope he gos soon cause hes startin to make my stomach hurt.

    LOL

I hear ya bro - they seem to have an incredible capacity for . . . retention there. Awesome snakes though, simply fascinating. What're you using for substrate btw. beagle? Just curious.

Arnold my 6 month old male BP
I use newspaper for all the reasons others have stated, cheap , clean, absorbant, etc. He is quickly getting too big for his rubbermaid enclosure hes over 2 feet, and when hes upset he is quickly becoming a pain in my &*% to hold still, throwing his body around like a toddler that doesnt want to be held (this rarely happens unless I do something hes not used to like when I gave him his first soak), thus far though hes been as gentle as can be.

I want a borneo next year and than Ill be happy! :P

Damn Carson I just noticed you are in LaVale (I'm observant like that) - I have driven past there twice this week so far. Pass the Boelen's or WHite-Lipped, please.

Uh-oh...it's already starting. A year after that, it'll be, "Well, I already have the two other species of short-tail pythons, so I might as well go ahead & get a red just to round out my group."
