    Soaking Question???
    hello,
so i got my red tail about a month ago and yesterday when i got home from work i saw him soaking, so i didn't think much, and today when i got up he was still soaking and i don't think he had moved from it at all last night. i know that they will occasionally soak if they are shedding or if they have mites, but i haven't noticed either of those. i guess the question i am really trying to ask is whats the longest my red tail would be able to soak before i start getting concerned?
    thanks,
    jay

I would definitely take a real close look for mites. I have never seen either of mine soak. Also, what are your temps? Maybe he's hot.

If the temp change does not work, recheck for mites. I like to keep my humidity at 70-80%. Gus Rentfro (boa expert) does not think soaking is all that great. Usually it is a sign of mites, dehydration, or overly hot temps but not always. My boa never soaks so you may want to keep an eye on things for a bit. If mites are even a question, switch to paper towel substrate for a bit and see if you spot any in the next few days.

    Good luck!
