Shedding

How do I know when my snake is about to shed? What should the humidity be during shed? Should I fed her during shed? How long does the shedding process take?

I've heard around 65% is good for shedding and i could be wrong. And when he is going into shed his eyes should go a murky blue color and his bely should turn pinkish white. Thats about al I know. Providing him with a humid hide does wonders for a snake shedding. Or so I've heard.

What about feeding? And how often do they shed?

Your snakes eyes will turn a cloudy blue color, different from the normal black. Her colors will also dull slightly.

Humidity should be no less than ~60-70% range, just don't go over 80%, thats not necessary and can start to harbour bacteria.

I've heard of people feeding during a shed cycle. I don't feed during shed just because the snake is already under a small amount a of stress during that time. But some snakes have fed during a shed cycle with no problems. My advice would be to just wait until its all over. They can wait, and will probably be hungry after all that and eat for you without any hesitation.

The length of the cycle varies. But in general terms, a snakes eyes will cloud up, then clear, in about 2-4 days. After they clear, the snake often sheds in 24-48 hours. I've found that the shed cycle is on the shorter side of things when my humidity is where it should be. Anything lower, I've noticed, delays the process a little bit. Whether theres a direct connection between this I don't know, but just going on my own personal experience.

young bps will shed about every 4-5 weeks. Adults usually go 7 or 8 weeks. Juvi's are somewhere in between. The more you feed them, the more the grow. The more they grow, the more they shed.

Most bps don't like to eat when they can't see, though some will eat after the eyes clear up and before they actually shed. How often they shed is a factor of how fast they're growing. Young bps eating regularly will often be monthly shedders, but older ball pythons may go months without shedding, especially if they're fasting.
