Humidity boost

I just got a beautiful pastel female named Elena and she is in a reptile tank with a built in heat pad. The cage has a mesh top and I was wondering if I could boost the humidity in her cage by putting a hood top, like on a fish tank with an led light built in. Would that help the humidity for Elena to make her more comfy?

You can cover it with a damp towel to help.

Or you can cover the mesh with foil tape. It is hard to keep your humidity up with a mesh top. I always recommend using humid hides. You can boost the humidity in the hides by doing nothing more than placing moss in and misting it during regular time and soaking it and keeping it damp during shed time.

I would also consider using Eco Earth as a substrate, this substrate is very good at holding humidity.

Some people will get plexiglass specially cut to cover 3/4th of the cage. If you're using a lamp, just leave enough room for the lamp to sit on the screen and the rest is covered with the plexiglass. Usually they will drill a few holes as well.

Placing a damp towel overtop works as well. Or tin foil/cling wrap. Misting helps, and so do the humid hides.

Wet substrate like Eco earth and coco fibre will help as well.

Also a large water dish that is under a lamp/over part of the heat pad can help.

What are you using right now to monitor humidity?

You may need to do two of the ideas posted to maintain a high enough humidity.
