K so I got some ratties from this lady that said they were agouti but they look rather blue? She set me a photo of her collection while cleaning so I can compare on the photos below.

the orange circled rats have what I thought was agouti and the lilac circled rats are what my rats are, are they really normal agoutis? I kinda think they look kindof like russian blue agoutis, but slightly darker.

here's the dumbo I got of that mystery colour(not great lighting, note the lighting is yellow so her look more orange then she is)

Hard to say. I've learned that the color can change a LOT as the young rats molt. How old is yours? Google rat colors/patterns, you should be able to find some that might give you a better comparison. Or if you could post see pics that show the true color (if possible, I know it can be difficult to get accurate shots :) )

    They are aprox. 2.5 months?

To be honest the colour is quite close to this photo, little bluer in my view, which is labeled mink? :S

His colors are pretty true in this pic.

    Does yours look similar?

I can't tell in your picture, but agouti can vary A LOT. Some are very brownish looking, like the ones you circled in the photos, but the color really ranges from very bright, reddish, golden color, to very dull, grayish, or yellowish. Agouti can also come in dilutes (those diluted versions are given other names though... like cinnamon, fawn, blue agouti, etc). The main thing about agouti, is the hairs need to be banded. On the rats you are questioning, are their hairs banded or one solid color?

    Forgot to add -

The dumbo you pictured, best I can tell looks like a dull shade of agouti.

Sorry for the delay but yes they are banded, just like I was saying they just seem off of the normal agoutis I typically see, less red/orangey :S

If the hairs are banded, it would definitely be some kind of agouti. Might just be dull, drab normal agouti, or could be a dilute, most likely possibility being (based on how the pictures look on my screen) Russian blue agouti.
