P90x
Ok, so I'm lucky enough to have inherited genetics that haven't (yet) allowed me to gain too much excess weight. However, not overweight isn't the same as being in shape or healthy. This will be my second attempt at P90X, and I'm on day 3 of the "Lean" program. Who out there has had success with this program? What tips do you have for staying motivated and making it through? Thanks all!

I did it 2 years ago. Lost 30 lbs doing it. My advice is the adjust it to your needs. The default routines are not for everyone. Also, after a while, mute the DVD and playing music. I got to the point I wanted to punch Tony Horton in the mouth.

I work 12-14 hour days, so going to the gym just isn't an option unless I want my poor dog to explode!
I think the first time I tried it I pushed too hard and it just hurt too much. I'm trying to pace myself a bit more, at least for the first couple of weeks.

I did insanity for a bit until life took over. Im in decent shape so I found it to be a fun work out got little tired but it was doing some changes that I liked to my stamina. I wanna try to do all the days still but not enough time. I blasted my own music too, I dont get motivated by someone telling me to be motivated.

I have Insanity, but haven't actually tried it. Maybe I'll use it to switch things up if p90x gets annoying. Or, do it when I'm done with this one, if I'm really feeling self-abusive!

I liked the way insanity improved my cardio, I did it right after I quit smoking an it beat me into shape. By the end of the 3rd I did I could breath lots better

P90x
I did it for a while a few years ago.
I just don't have the time for it. :/

I decided that Tai Cheng (harder than you'd think if done correctly) would be my entry to that world. I am doing it twice before I go to P90X. I am on day 149 of 180 and feel pretty good about jumping up a level at 45 years.
There is a hybrid schedule of P90X and Insanity to be found online. fwiw.

I think the trick is to try and fight through the excuses. Some days I just don't want to work out, and I tell myself excuse after excuse why I can't/shouldn't today. Then I fight through and just get it done, and am so glad at the end. I don't always win, and will skip a day or two, but then I make myself restart that week next Monday.
Having a workout partner to help keep you motivated also helps.
I am 6 weeks into my second normal round (first time was about 4 years ago and had great results, but got lazy afterward and didn't maintain). In 6 weeks I am down 23 pounds (from 188 to 165).
Best of luck!
