Enclouser Size For Adult RTB?

Hello,
I've wanted a Red Tail Boa for a long time, I've done all the research I need and know that they can grow pretty big! Only question I have is a 100 gallon tank okay for a red tail boa? Also, what would be the cheapest way to provide that encloser for the RTB? Should I build it myself, if so how would I start?

I can't recommend a tank for an adult boa. Partly due to size, but also because keeping heat and humidity just sucks in tanks.

You can pick up a PVC enclosure for not too much money. Personally, I recommend ConstrictorsNW - Ed has some really nice products and they are made from HDPE plastic which is WAY better than PVC.

But Animal Plastics and PVCcages.com also have some nice choices.

Stick with something that is 4x2x2 as a minimum. If your boa is a female, I strongly recommend a 6x2x2. Some will say you can get away with smaller, but why would you cramp your snake?? Boas will use ALL of their enclosure space if given the chance. Since we are imposing captivity on these animals, it is only fair to give them the most space we possibly can. :gj:

The cage is 6' long, 3' wide and 4' high.

She's about 7'.

Tanks suck. They are heavy and fragile. glass is a terrible insulator so they don't hold heat very well. And unless you build a lid for the tank yourself, your stuck with a screen top that won't hold humidity. And then of course add the issue that tanks are top opening. Have you ever tried to lift 20+lbs of snake that is cooperating out of a top opening cage? Imagine doing it with an animal that is being difficult. Build your own cage that is front opening. Or save a bunch of effort and buy a pre made plastic cage made by a pro. They are lightweight, hold heat and humidity well and look great. I personally would go with a minimum of 48x16x24 for an adult boa. But larger is always better. My company builds plenty of 72x16x24 and 96x16x24 cages for people wanting to provide as much space as possible for their boas. In fact I just finnished a 96x24x24 cage for a customer that wanted a big display cage for a large female boa. Now that was an impressive cage. :)
