Anybody else's Boa .....

.... all pissy when he/she is in shed. Homer, my 4 month old BCI, is really ( for lack of a better term ) pissed off when he is in shed. He is currently going through his second with me. During his first with me, everytime i got near the cage he would hiss and strike at me. This time is the same thing. Everytime i open the cage to change the water ( daily ) or even walk by all i hear is hissing. He hasnt struck at me yet. The first time i chalked it up to the fact that he is still a baby, and i guess that is what is going on this time as well. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever gone through this with their baby BCI's?

Mine gets like that sometimes.
Its because they are most vulnerable while in shed. Thier eyes blue over so they have a hard time seeing. You are more of a threat to them when they are in shed...
They will get more comfortable with it as they age. No worries :) I just try not to bug mine when he is shedding

Definitely. I have an almost 6 foot female now, and she is just a baby doll when in shed. I'm just hoping Homer will someday be that way.

Led- have you had your female since she was a hatchling? Some are more prissy than others, but from what I've seen the bigger they get, the more comfortable they get. I would guess that a full grown BCI doesnt have an aweful lot of predators if ya know what I mean ;)

mine's eyes just turned back to clear, which means i'm sure he'll shed tonight or tomorrow... and he's around my neck. guess it depends on the snake in this situation. my guy's fine when he's in shed. only time i can't mess with him is on the 7th day (feeding day).

Nope .. i'm just boa-sitting her for a friend, and he hasnt even had her since she was a hatchling. I tried to move Homer today to his new enclosure, but he wasn't having any parts of that. He seems to have aquired a taste for Carson blood :shock: ! I just hope he sheds soon.
