putting together my first breeding group
So I'm building a collection to make a little extra money and teach my kids some important life lessons. My main goal is to give them a hobby to focus on all the while teaching them to be responsible with money. So far the boys and I have aquired 0.1 spiders, 0.2 pastels, 0.1 yellowbelly. I have $3000 to play with and have my heart set on a queen bee male. My 7 year old desperately wants to make bumblebees. That leaves me with $2000 plus or minus to pit together a second group. I'd love to hear your opinions on how you would spend it. I'm leaning toward 1.0 clown, 0.1 het clown, 0.1 enchi, 0.1 lesser.

recessives are a way to go for sure, the down side to them is that they are a longer term project (you might be fine with that). If I had 2K to spend and wanted a longer term project I'd get a female clown and a female Pied and shoot for the long term of some different things.

Are you teaching them to have money saved for food, housing and vet bills?

I personally like the idea of Clowns maybe throw in some Fire.

    Yeah, I'd do 1.0 Clown, 0.1 Fire, 0.1 Enchi, 0.1 Butter.

I like the recessive genes, I had not thought of pied clowns.

And yes, but not at this point. We raise our own rats. But thats the main focus. In business you cant spend all your money but put some back to maintain the business and put more back to grow the business and then put more back to cover all the things you never thought about. I just want to teach them that they don't have to work for the boss man. They cansee things happen on their own. I'm getting off topic!

So you would get the pied girl and the clown girl and pair with the queen bee?

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. And I could pick up a fire male later and pair him with the girls that the qb wont be able to see.
