    Sheldon's Shedding Habits
Hey there, my baby ball python Sheldon is about a month and a half old now, going on two months. He has been eating regularly, hiding a small amount during the day, and otherwise acting just plain curious and happy. He is friendly and doesn't seem to mind being held and I try to take him out regularly (as long as he hasnt eaten in the past two days) and let him explore the room and hang out with me. For the past few days however Sheldon has been spending the bulk of his time sitting in his water bowl. I mist his terrarium and keep the humidity generally between 40-60%. I was wondering if maybe he is getting ready for his first shed? Should i start misting more to get the humidity higher? Or should I soak him outside of his terrarium? He looks like he is getting bigger but he is my first snake so I'm unsure of what to do to facilitate his shedding if this is the case.

40% is pretty low. A good target is 60-70%, you can always mist is tank to raise the humidity. Some bps like to lay in water, I have a couple that will do it any time, not just when shedding. BPs also soak in water if they have mites, so keep an eye out for that. My guess is your snake could be shedding and is feeling dehydrated because the humidity is on the low side. Not a big though! Just mist the tank.
